Lions to take on more than just the cheap nfl jerseys

THE BRITISH and Irish Lions will clash with 75 years of tradition and more than 1000 of the biggest names in ACT rugby history including George Gregan and David Campese when they play the Brumbies on June 18.

Rugby greats Gregan and Campese won’t be on the field, but the Brumbies will pay tribute to the capital’s rich rugby past when they wear a special jersey against the Lions in a mid week tour match.

It will add extra motivation to the Brumbies side selected for a chance to take on some of Europe’s best players.

Brumbies coach Jake White has already declared his intention to pick the best available side minus his Wallabies players.

He has missed just one Brumbies match since the start of Super Rugby in 1996 and that was to attend his daughter’s 40th birthday on the same night as the final in 2000.

The 81 year old has seen a generation of legends in Canberra. So who’s the best he’s watched?

”[Dual international] Michael O’Connor he was born to play,” Hawke said. ”He’s a stand out, I coached him. I first saw him when he was about nine years old at Little Athletics in a 100 metre race.
