The Every Day is Mother’s Day Mom’s Healing Conference will be held at the Sheraton Gateway in Los Angeles, CA, on May 21 -22, 2010. Heather T. Forbes, LCSW, published author and parenting expert, will be featured at this two-day Mom’s Healing Conference designed for any mother who is struggling to help her children, but also become the best person she can be. Registration for this event can be done online at www.EveryDayIsMothersDay.com or by calling 407-401-0999.

This special Mom’s Healing Conference will teach Mothers how to move from surviving to thriving. Dealing with challenging children through our traditional perspective and way of thinking has led many to experience mothering as suffering. They are not synonymous. Mothering is designed to be rewarding, loving, fun, and enjoyable. Forbes knows this and has experienced it from both a personal and professional level.

A past conference attendee says, “This weekend allowed me to get to the pain and hurt, healing in a way no other work I’ve done to date has been able to accomplish.  Because of this, I can truly see and believe that I am a good parent even when my children don’t respond positively to me.  We’ve also had great improvement in our kids’ behavior since I attended the conference.  I will definitely recommend this to other moms. Thank you!”

Mothers will be taught tools for resisting old habitual patterns and negative thinking, and they will experience a combination of emotional and cognitive experiences. This conference will lock the “new perspective’ into place, ensuring that Mothers return home to make significant changes in all their relationships.

The Every Day is Mother’s Day Conference is designed to be a life-changing weekend for Mothers! Imagine being away from your family for a minimum of two days, and actually wanting to go back home to start fresh? Forbes promises to do everything in her power to create this new dynamic for moms who have in the past, or are currently, at the point of wanting to get in their car and drive away…forever!

“What has been missing all along is Mothers knowing how to get themselves back on track!” explains Forbes. “One more medication will just be another Band-Aid solution. One more sticker chart will only generate more frustration. One more expert telling them their child needs to change now, or a future of trouble is eminent, will only sink them to a lower level of hopelessness.”

Effective child management is typically impacted by parenting beliefs and values that influence our parenting abilities (90%) and the implementation of specific parenting skills (10%). This FREE live powerful one-hour webinar explores parental beliefs and values (the 90%) that could limit or reduce child behavior improvement. Unless these beliefs and values are identified and addressed, very little progress, if any, can be made to improve child misbehavior.

This webinar explores:

  1. Whether discipline is responsible for behavior change,
  2. At what age parents should begin disciplining their child,
  3. Disciplining an ADHD child,
  4. Whether psychotropic medication cures misbehavior, and
  5. Preventing parental burnout.

As our gift for attending, participants will receive a free copy of our “Standing Up To Bullying” bullying prevention computer game that can easily be played in schools, homes, and therapy settings.

The presenter is Mark Lakewood, CEO of Building Strong Families National Seminars, a distinguished parenting expert, author, and speaker with over 20 years of clinical experience as a mental health therapist. Mr. Lakewood has an extensive history providing therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults. Several years ago, he developed and facilitated an effective parenting program for parents of strong-willed children that gained local recognition. This
program taught parents strategies and techniques to help them effectively manage their children’s behavior. Based on this program, Mr. Lakewood later created the Sudden Compliance Program and is currently offering it as a DVD/downloadable video series and as a webinar series.

This webinar is presently scheduled for Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 from 10:00am to 11:00am Mountain Standard
Time. There are additional dates/times to select from. If the scheduled days/times are inconvenient, participants can schedule this live webinar to be presented on a day/time most convenient to them.

One can definitely state that not always do the means justify the end. Creating an awareness among children to a more careful lifestyle toward energy saving is certainly a noble objective, but why do this by frightening them to the point to create nightmares for them?

The question reached the British Parliament. Thousands of parents of British children are protesting for a commercial commissioned by a government agency and aired on national TV for the past ten days. This news reached also the attention of the foreign press, reported by “Notizie tra le linee”, the magazine of one of the major Italian energy operators.

The video – which can also be viewed on Youtube and in the website www.decc.gov.uk named Act on Co2 bedtime stories tv – shows an attentive father reading a bedtime story to his sweet little 2 year-old daughter. The musical background is very gentle, creating a peaceful atmosphere of sweet dreams. The father begins reading and turning the pages of the story illustrated with cartoons. The blue-eyed, blond-haired child listens attentively, but her dreamy expression is soon transformed: from a peaceful look, she becomes frightened. Her father is showing her little bunny rabbits that are crying and drowning owing to the rise in the ocean levels, skies with menacing black clouds shaped like monsters ready to eat houses.

With the incommensurable trust typical of all children, the child asks her father: “Will there be a happy ending?” As the cameras “leave” the child’s bedroom, the reply is given by a woman’s voice off-screen: “It depends on our actions”.

Both parents and psychologists believe this is too strong: having small children carry such a heavy burden is harmful to their balanced growth and development. The government included this commercial within a six million pound campaign launched by the Minister of Energy and Climate Change and is now receiving an increasing number of requests to immediately withdraw it from the shocking television campaign.
