Future Electronics was founded in Montreal in 1968 by company President Robert Miller. It began its international expansion in 1972, opening its first American office in Boston.

The Paris office first opened its doors in 1994 in a suburb south of the city, with easy access to downtown Paris and the main highways. Today, the office is located in Vélizy-Villacoublay, about 16 kilometers from Versailles. The Sacramento branch opened in 1994 to service the Reno and Northern California markets outside of the San Francisco Bay area. In the mid-1980s, high tech companies began setting up shop in the region. The area is considered an extension of Silicon Valley, with companies such as Intel, HP, and Tesla located there.
